Cumberland Cottage

Brian had Monday and Tuesday off from School so we were able to go to Cumberland Lake. We were able to stay at this amazing little cottage! We roasted s'mores right outside, and Brian made a great peach cobbler in the dutch oven. Inside, there was an oven that we baked a turkey breast wrapped in bacon with potatoes, onion and lots of garlic. Yeah, we were livin the good life. The drive down was so much fun! All the colors and the buildings we passed had so much character. We really loved this clock tower in Columbia Kentucky. Up close through the top window we could even see the cool stair case leading to the clock tower.

We were able to climb down to the lake and were so pleased with Kyrie's hiking skills. Most of those skills included sitting on dad's shoulders, covering Brian's eyes with her hands, yelling "a bug!", and collecting leafs from the branches of nearby trees. We were also so pleased to discover that throwing rocks into the lake can keep Kyrie busy for hours!

This little bridge had definatly seen better days. We were truly blessed that it didn't collapse with us on it.

I saw this lamp and fell in love. I thought it was so beautiful and would love it in the front of my house, but that's not really an option. So, I settled on a picture, in about twenty different angles. Have know fear, I've decided to post just one.
The first trail we hiked started at the Pumpkin Lodge. We couldn't resist the kodak moment.
Kyrie making her rock climbing debut!Yeah, another good time we couldn't resist!Too much fun! After all the strenuous exertion of the day, Kyrie needed a little R&R (rest and relaxation) on the couch to watch some of her new movie obsession, Jungle Book.

Kyrie and dad, lookin out over a secluded part of the lake.

We have found a new vacation spot and plan on returning as many times as we can! We love Cumberland Lake!
